Norman R. Gaudet, 86, of Newington died, unexpectedly, on Monday, December 29, 2008, while visiting his grandson in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was the beloved husband and best friend of the late Anne (Healy) Gaudet, for 62 years. Born in Hartford, he lived in Newington for the last 52 years and was a member of the Church of St. Mary.
Norman served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He worked as a carpenter and belonged to the Carpenter's and Teamsters Unions. Norman enjoyed woodworking and building furniture in his spare time.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Edward M. Gaudet and Lila of Boynton Beach, FL, his daughter Kathleen A. Carter of Bloomfield, three grandchildren Jason Gaudet of Newington, Aimee Gaudet of Boynton Beach, FL, Dr. Patrick Carter of Ann Arbor, Michigan, two great-granddaughters Elisabeth and Katie Gaudet and his sister Dorothy Christensen of West Hartford. He was predeceased by his son Richard N. Gaudet.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 9:00 a.m., from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary. Burial, with military honors will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7:00 p.m., at Newington Memorial.
