Where Do People Go When They Die? By Mindy Avra Portnoy, Illustrations by Shelly O. Haas

A comforting book for children preschool age to grade 2, written in simple language with sensitive illustrations, "Where Do People Go When They Die?" responds to children with answers that reflect vary ing beliefs about death.  At the end of the book there is a discussion with suggestions for parents on how to answer the question with sensitivity and openness, conveying developmentally appropriate information and gentle support.  Author Mindy Avra Portnoy is a graduate of Yale University and is an ordained Rabbi, wife and mother.  Book awards: Society of School Librarians International Honor Book and an Association of Jewish Libraries Notable Children's Book.
